The device has a housing made of metal and plastic, which according to IP68 is largely water-tight and is also certified according to the US military standard 810G as shock-resistant. 

The corners are rounded like in the normal Galaxy S8 and there is again a cover from Gorilla Glass 5, which is to protect the display against scratches. But the screen is completely flat for reasons of resilience, Samsung does not bend the edges of the display backward.
